The History of Refuge: The Quick Version
Refuge was born out of how God has brought healing to my life. At the end of 2010 God made it very clear that I was to bridge the gap between men in the church and their sexual purity. I was to start in my church, then move and network with other churches, and finally make Refuge available to the community. Most churches today does not want to deal with pornography in the church or they don’t know how to deal with it. Yet it is the number one way the enemy is destroying the church. If we lose the men of the church, we lose the families, and if we lose the families, we lose the church. I had a 20 year addition to pornography and other types of sexual sins, and growing up the church I was a part of didn’t have any help for men that where struggling with pornography. Most churches today still do have anything available to help their men with this struggle. Statics show that 50% of men in the church struggle with some form of sexual sin. This is why I believe God laid it on my heart to start this type of ministry. I understand the struggle, I dealt with it for 20 years and I know the pain and destruction it brings. I spent all of 2011 writing the material for Refuge and it has been so neat to sit back and watch God move and lay the foundation for this ministry.
